TRAVEL

Mid-Morning: Meet the coach at Ebbsfleet International Station and travel to Dover for ferry crossing. There are fast trains from St. Pancras Station to Ebbsfleet every 15 minutes or you may choose to utilise the ample secure parking.

Late-Afternoon: Check into 3star hotel, Amiens which will be our tour base.

Evening: Meet for a welcome drink and historic context briefing before the evening meal.

DISCOVER

Morning: Visit to the new Sir John Monash Centre, Villers-Bretonneux set in the grounds of the Australian Military Memorial. The multimedia centre tells the story of the contribution made by Australians on the Western Front in WW1.

Afternoon: Demonstrations

1. Signalling-“The Fog of War” An exercise in the use of flags and Morse code messages.
2. Cooking-“The Mess Tin Challenge” using ‘Hexi-burners’, wartime ingredients & period mess tins.
3. Medical-“Stretcher Bearers” Problem solving in casualty evacuation using wartime medical equipment.
4. Archeology-Underground experience at the Glory Hole site La Boiselle.

Evening: Meal and Quiz Night to end the day.

THE LONG STRIDE

Checkpoint to Checkpoint Walking Challenge

Short 15km

Long Route 25km

Energetic guided walking challenge between WW1 Anzac Battlefields and significant historic landmarks. Walk in the theatre of war where our Aussie Diggers fought from 1914-1918.

Including Adelaide Cemetery, the Somme River, Beacon Hill and Dernancourt.

Evening: Dinner and prize giving ceremony.

HONOUR

Morning: Visit the city of Arras and the Flying Services Memorial, Memorial to the Missing.

Listed is our RFDS hero, Lieutenant Clifford Peel of No 3 Squadron Australian Flying Corps who went missing in 1918. Be part of this special wreath laying ceremony.
